About this scholarship
The Yenching Academy of Peking University offers a fully funded, interdisciplinary two-year Master's degree in China Studies, taught in English, designed to build bridges between China and the rest of the world. All admitted students receive the Yenching Fellowship for their first academic year, which covers tuition, accommodation in the Yenching Academy House, a monthly living stipend, a travel stipend for one round-trip journey between the scholar's home base and Beijing, basic medical insurance, and research-related expenses. Students who maintain good academic standing and remain in Beijing for the second year can apply for a second-year Yenching Fellowship covering tuition, accommodation support, basic medical insurance, and a monthly stipend. Around 100 scholars join each cohort, drawn from outstanding graduates worldwide. Applicants need at least a bachelor's degree in any field (or be on track to graduate before enrolment), a record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement and leadership potential, and English proficiency. Applications are submitted in English through the Academy's online portal; the program admits one cohort per year, with recruitment details for the next cohort typically published around September.
