Women With Promise Scholarship
Offered by Women With Promise
About this scholarship
The Women With Promise Scholarship helps North Texas women begin or resume an accredited college, university, trade, or vocational program. Awards generally range from $250 to $5,000 and can cover tuition, books, and required fees; payment is made directly to the school before the course begins. Funding is awarded by semester or term, and the number of recipients depends on available sponsors and donations. The program prioritizes applicants facing substantial financial and personal barriers who have a practical educational plan and the determination to complete it. Every applicant must already work with a nonprofit or social-service agency, and an advocate from that agency must agree to provide mentoring and support throughout the educational experience. The application includes background and financial information, a two-to-five-page narrative, an academic plan, a time-and-money budget, school charges, tax and income documents, a sponsor agreement, and a professional reference. Applications are reviewed in the order received, usually within two to six weeks, and may remain open until the start of a semester. Existing recipients can seek another term of support after earning at least a 2.75 GPA in the previous semester.
