Will Nutter Memorial Scholarship

Offered by TREE Fund

About this scholarship

The Will Nutter Memorial Scholarship provides $5,000 for a student building an academic and professional path in utility forestry or arboriculture. High-school seniors entering a college or community college and returning students seeking their first associate or bachelor’s degree at an accredited U.S. institution may apply. The sponsor requires a genuine interest in the utility-forestry or arboriculture industry, demonstrated through the application letter and career essay. TREE Fund’s scoring rubric also requires a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and gives points for the transcript, a maximum-1,000-word essay, two recommendations, and the applicant’s potential to remain in arboriculture, urban forestry, or a related field. The application additionally asks for proof of student membership in the International Society of Arboriculture. Up to $500 of the $5,000 award may be used for books and supplies; the remainder supports the student’s educational costs. The first $2,500 is sent to the institution after acceptance documentation is received, and the remaining installment follows the program’s re-enrollment process. Applicants create an account in TREE Fund’s scholarship portal, provide educational standing and enrollment information, list scholarship and extracurricular activities, upload the transcript and membership proof, and arrange one recommendation from an academic advisor plus a second reference. The annual application period runs from January 15 through March 15.
