Washington State University WUE Distinguished Cougar Award

Offered by Washington State University

About this scholarship

Washington State University's WUE/Distinguished Cougar Award provides $15,000 per year toward nonresident tuition for high-achieving incoming students at the Pullman campus. It can renew for three additional years, producing a maximum potential value of $60,000 across eight semesters. No separate award application is required: WSU automatically evaluates eligible students from their completed admission materials. First-year applicants need a 3.7 to 4.0 high school GPA. Transfer applicants need a 3.7 to 4.0 transfer GPA; those transferring with only 1 to 26 credits must also have at least a 3.0 high school GPA. Applicants must be classified and charged as nonresidents and begin on the Pullman campus in the term for which they were admitted and awarded. For Fall 2027 automatic consideration, all admission materials must be on file by March 31, 2027. Recipients must enroll in at least 12 credits each semester, remain in good academic standing, retain nonresident status, continue in an undergraduate non-professional degree, and attend Pullman or Spokane. The award cannot be combined with WSU's National Merit Scholarship, cannot exceed nonresident tuition when combined with other allowable waivers, and generally cannot be used during a WSU study-abroad term.
