WABO Welder Scholarship Program

Offered by Washington Association of Building Officials

About this scholarship

The WABO Welder Scholarship Program helps students preparing for careers in structural welding at community and technical colleges registered with the Washington Association of Building Officials. WABO typically awards about 20 scholarships of up to $500 each. Funds may be used for tuition, books, supplies, or registration in the WABO Welder Program. The current fall 2026 opportunity closes October 9, 2026, rather than the projected May 2027 date shown in the discovery directory. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a welding degree or certificate program at a WABO-registered institution, have completed at least two quarters, and hold a minimum 3.0 GPA. The official fillable PDF is the application. A complete packet includes the signed form, responses describing the applicant’s program, credits, career goal, financial circumstances, future plans, and intended use of funds; a transcript; a current class schedule; and a recommendation letter. A WABO-approved Welder Examiner must endorse the application, and incomplete packets are rejected. Applicants may send the signed packet to WABO’s Olympia mailing address or the registration email printed on the form. Previous recipients cannot apply again.
