About this scholarship

VLIR-UOS, the development cooperation arm of the Flemish (Dutch-speaking Belgian) universities, awards scholarships to students from a defined list of about 29 eligible countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to study one of around 15 English-taught master's programmes (ICP Connect) at Flemish universities and university colleges in Belgium. The scholarship is comprehensive, covering tuition fees, travel, insurance, and living expenses (board and lodging) for the full duration of the master's (12 or 24 months). Eligibility requires candidates to be nationals of, and resident in, one of the eligible countries at the time of application (the residence country need not be the country of nationality). Age limits apply — no older than 35 on 1 January of the intake year for an initial master's, or 45 for an advanced master's. Preference goes to candidates working in, or aiming for careers in, higher education, government, or civil society, although strong newly graduated or private-sector candidates may also be considered. Applicants submit the scholarship application directly to the higher-education institution running the chosen programme, and each programme sets its own deadline.
