Vegetarian Resource Group College Scholarship
Offered by The Vegetarian Resource Group
About this scholarship
The Vegetarian Resource Group College Scholarship recognizes U.S. high-school seniors who have actively promoted veganism in their schools or communities. For the spring 2027 graduating class, applications are due February 20, 2027 because VRG states that the contest deadline is February 20 every year. The current award structure is one $10,000 scholarship, five $5,000 scholarships, and possible runner-up prizes. Applicants are evaluated for compassion, courage, commitment to a peaceful world through a vegan lifestyle, the reach and effectiveness of their advocacy, and their ability to reflect honestly on successes and challenges. A strong submission documents concrete work such as starting a vegan club, organizing food outreach, advocating for plant-based options, educating peers, or leading community projects. The application requires detailed personal and school information; an essay addressing the applicant’s vegan advocacy, learning, future goals, and personal journey; two years of transcripts or report cards; at least three recommendations including one teacher; and supporting evidence such as photographs or news coverage. Students may use VRG’s PDF form or submit the same information in a neatly typed document. Materials may be emailed to VRG or mailed by the deadline, and awards are paid to a U.S.-based college.
