UVI Free Tuition Scholarship Program-Plus
Offered by University of the Virgin Islands and the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands
About this scholarship
The UVI Free Tuition Scholarship Program-Plus is a Virgin Islands government-funded pathway that covers tuition at the University of the Virgin Islands for eligible territory residents. The tuition scholarship is applied first and does not itself pay mandatory fees, books, housing, meals, transportation, or personal costs. For 2026–27, UVI’s official financial-aid budget lists $5,300 in annual resident undergraduate tuition and $656 in fees. The “Plus” refers to combining the tuition scholarship with federal or other financial aid for the remaining expenses; completing the FAFSA is encouraged for that added support but the university’s eligibility graphic does not describe it as a condition of the tuition benefit itself. Applicants must currently reside in the U.S. Virgin Islands, have attended a territory public, private, or parochial high school for at least three years, graduate with a cumulative high-school GPA of 2.5 or higher, seek their first associate or bachelor’s degree, and enroll for at least six credits. Students begin by submitting UVI’s undergraduate admission application; the university verifies scholarship eligibility during its application review rather than requiring a separate public scholarship form. The live portal linked below accepts first-year, transfer, and online undergraduate applications. UVI currently lists October 30 as the priority deadline for spring admission and April 30 for fall admission.
