University of Winnipeg Wu Chung Scholarship

About this scholarship

The University of Winnipeg Wu Chung Scholarship is a comprehensive undergraduate award for international students from Huadu, Guangzhou, or Hong Kong, China. The scholarship recognizes academic achievement and leadership potential and was established by Sir Gordon Wu in honour of his father, Wu Chung. UWinnipeg states that recipients receive full support for undergraduate tuition and fees for up to four calendar years, covering up to 30 credit hours in fall and winter terms and up to 9 credit hours in spring. The award also covers textbooks, course-related supplies and incidental study costs, accommodation and a monthly meal plan in UWinnipeg Housing, and reimbursement of up to CAD $2,500 for air travel to Winnipeg. Applicants must be residents of Huadu, Guangzhou, or Hong Kong; meet academic and English language admission requirements as international students; be eligible to enter Canada with a valid study permit; have not studied at any other post-secondary institution; hold at least a 70% equivalent qualifying high-school average; and show exceptional leadership qualities and potential community impact. The scholarship application must be submitted before applying for admission, and the 2026-27 deadline is listed as TBA.

Eligibility

• Be a resident of Huadu, Guangzhou, or Hong Kong, China
• Meet University of Winnipeg academic and English language proficiency requirements as an international student
• Be eligible to enter Canada with a valid study permit
• Have not studied at any other post-secondary institution
• Have at least a 70% equivalent average from qualifying high-school courses
• Demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and community impact potential
