About this scholarship
The Chancellor's International Scholarship (CIS) is the University of Warwick's flagship PhD award for outstanding international doctoral candidates, with up to 42 scholarships available each year to the most outstanding applicants assessed as paying Overseas fees. The scholarship covers tuition fees at the full overseas rate and provides a maintenance stipend at the prevailing UKRI rate, normally for up to 3.5 years of full-time doctoral study; accommodation costs are not directly covered, as the stipend is a contribution toward living expenses. Because the award is tied to a specific research project and supervisor, applicants are strongly encouraged to identify a potential supervisor and develop a research proposal before applying, and to do so early since the deadline falls early in the application cycle (normally early December) — supervisors need time to support the application. Applications are made through the relevant department/Doctoral College competition. Selection is highly competitive and based on academic excellence and research potential, making the CIS one of the most sought-after fully funded PhD routes at Warwick for international students.
