University of Turku Merit Scholarship
Offered by University of Turku
About this scholarship
The University of Turku Merit Scholarship is a continuing-student tuition scholarship for fee-paying bachelor's and master's students in international degree programmes. Turku states that first-year tuition scholarships are no longer available for students admitted in 2026, but students who pay tuition during their first year or years may apply for the Merit Scholarship based on studies completed at the University of Turku. The scholarship covers 50 percent of the tuition fee for the next study year. It is partial funding because it reduces tuition only and does not cover the remaining tuition, student-union and health-care fees, housing, food, insurance, books, travel, residence permit costs, or personal expenses. For master's students, the scholarship covers 50 percent of the second-year tuition fee and requires 55 credits during the first study year. For bachelor's students, it can cover 50 percent of second- and third-year tuition fees, requiring 55 credits in the first year and 110 credits across the first two years. Students also need an average score of at least 3.0 on Turku's 1-5 scale and at least 4 credits of Finnish before applying for the first time.
