University of Toledo International Rocket Award

About this scholarship

The University of Toledo International Rocket Award is an automatic merit scholarship for new international undergraduate students. UToledo states that new international freshmen and transfer students with a cumulative higher-education GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of admission are automatically considered for an $8,000 per year International Rocket Award when they apply. The award is partial funding because it reduces the student account balance but does not cover the full cost of tuition, fees, housing, meals, health insurance, books, travel, and personal expenses. No separate scholarship application is required; if the student qualifies, the scholarship is awarded when the student is admitted to UToledo. The university also notes that more than 90% of international undergraduates receive scholarships or special tuition rates. Students whose permanent address is within one of Toledo's Sister Cities or Regions may instead qualify for a special in-state tuition rate, but those students do not qualify for the International Rocket Award. Scholarship funds are used to pay tuition and other allowable charges on the student account, and merit scholarship details appear in the myUT financial aid dashboard.

Eligibility

• Apply as a new international freshman or transfer undergraduate student to the University of Toledo
• Have a cumulative higher-education GPA of at least 3.0 at the time of admission
• No separate International Rocket Award application is required
• Be admitted to UToledo to receive the scholarship if qualified
• Students from Toledo Sister Cities or Regions qualify for in-state tuition instead of this award
• Scholarship funds pay tuition and other allowable charges on the account
• Meet UToledo international admission and English language requirements
