University of Sydney International Scholarship (USydIS)
Offered by University of Sydney
About this scholarship
The University of Sydney International Scholarship (USydIS) supports outstanding international students undertaking a higher degree by research (a PhD or master's by research) at the University of Sydney. It provides an annual living stipend — A$42,754 at the 2026 rate, indexed each year — alongside coverage of tuition fees (equivalent to an Australian Government Research Training Program award) and a relocation allowance of up to A$1,485 for travel from your home country to Sydney at the start, and up to A$1,485 for return travel after you successfully complete your degree. To be considered, you must apply for admission to a higher degree by research through the Sydney Courses system and submit all required documentation, plus the scholarship application form, by the deadlines set out in the application and award timeline. Awards are made competitively on the basis of academic merit and research potential. Because it covers both a generous stipend and tuition, the USydIS is one of the University's flagship research awards for international candidates.
