University of San Francisco International First-Year Merit Scholarships
Offered by University of San Francisco
About this scholarship
The University of San Francisco International First-Year Merit Scholarships are automatic tuition scholarships for international undergraduate applicants. USF's official international costs and scholarships page states that merit scholarships for first-year students are awarded based on the USF-calculated GPA in core academic subjects. For Fall 2026 international first-year applicants, the published merit table ranges from the St. Francis Scholarship at $17,000 to the University Scholarship at $37,000, with additional named levels including the Presidential, Provost, Hilltop, Ignatius, and Dons Scholarships. The award is partial funding because the scholarships can only be applied to tuition and do not cover the full cost of tuition, fees, housing, meals, health insurance, books, transportation, travel, or personal expenses. USF reports that 87% of international students receive merit scholarships and that the average merit scholarship amount awarded to international students is $27,424. Scholarships are renewable each year for up to four years as long as the student maintains Satisfactory Academic Progress toward the degree. Students in AEM, Fresh Start, or nursing may follow different award rules.
