University of Portland International Student Scholarship

About this scholarship

The University of Portland International Student Scholarship supports incoming and current international students. The official International Student Services page states that scholarships are awarded at the time of admission with no separate application, and recipients receive award notification with the University of Portland acceptance letter. Awards to new international students are based on academic merit, including cumulative incoming GPA and, when applicable, SAT or ACT scores for first-year students. A related admission scholarship page states that accepted first-year and transfer students, no matter their citizenship status, are automatically considered for merit aid, and it lists first-year merit levels including the Archbishop Christie Scholarship at $35,000 and several other awards from $24,000 to $30,000 per year. The scholarship is partial funding because it reduces cost but does not cover full tuition, fees, housing, meals, insurance, books, travel, or personal expenses. Recipients must be officially accepted, maintain satisfactory academic progress, meet minimum GPA rules, and carry a full course load each semester.

Eligibility

• Apply for admission to the University of Portland
• Be officially accepted to the university
• Be a citizen and resident of a country other than the United States, residing in the U.S. or intending to attend in eligible nonimmigrant status
• No separate International Student Scholarship application is required at admission
• Have academic merit based on GPA and application review
• Maintain satisfactory academic progress
• Maintain the required GPA and full course load for continued eligibility
