The University of Ottawa Differential Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship is a major tuition-reduction award for international Francophone and Francophile students studying in French. uOttawa offers it to eligible international students who pay international tuition fees and enroll in a bachelor's or master's program offered in French, or in an English program with the French Immersion Stream. The value depends on the student's program and term of admission, so amount_value is left null rather than forcing a single annual figure. For undergraduate students starting in Winter 2024 or later, published examples range from CAD $12,500 per eligible term in many faculties to CAD $18,000 per eligible term in Engineering and selected Science programs. The scholarship is partial funding because it reduces tuition but does not cover the full cost of tuition, fees, housing, food, insurance, travel, books, or personal expenses. Undergraduate renewal requires full-time enrollment, at least three courses taught in French per term, and continued enrollment in an approved French or French Immersion program.

Eligibility

• Be an international student paying University of Ottawa international tuition fees
• Accept admission to an eligible bachelor's or master's program
• Study in a program offered in French or in an English program with French Immersion
• Meet French Immersion admission requirements if applying through that route
• Enroll full time
• Take the required number of courses taught in French each term
• Remain in an approved program until the end of the scholarship period
