University of Iceland Watanabe Trust Fund
Offered by University of Iceland
About this scholarship
The University of Iceland Watanabe Trust Fund supports academic exchange between Iceland and Japan. The official University of Iceland page states that the fund supports students and academic staff from all disciplines at the University of Iceland for studies and research in Japan, and likewise students and researchers from Japanese universities who wish to study or conduct research at the University of Iceland. Undergraduate and graduate students can apply for travel and subsistence grants for up to a nine-month stay. The monthly subsistence grant is up to ISK 200,000 for stays in Iceland and JPY 150,000 for stays in Japan, and a travel grant of up to ISK 200,000 is available for stays longer than one month. Tuition fees and other costs are not funded, so the award is recorded as partial funding. The 2026-2027 application deadline was February 2, 2026, and applications and supporting documents are submitted in English by email to the Watanabe Trust Fund.
