University of Helsinki Scholarship
Offered by University of Helsinki (Finland)
About this scholarship
The University of Helsinki Scholarship Programme helps excellent international students who are liable to pay tuition fees to study an English-taught master's programme at the University of Helsinki, Finland's largest and highest-ranked university. The scholarship takes the form of a tuition-fee waiver of either 50% or 100% — and because only a very limited number are available, most awards cover 50% of the fee. Tuition for the University's English-taught master's programmes ranges from €13,000 to €18,000 per academic year depending on the programme, so the waiver is significant; however, the scholarship does not cover living expenses, which students must fund themselves. Eligibility is limited to fee-liable students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who hold a first-cycle (bachelor's) degree that qualifies them for master's-level study. The process is integrated with admission: there is no separate scholarship application form — you apply for a scholarship at the same time as you apply to the international master's programme during the January application period for an autumn start. Selection is based on academic excellence.
