About this scholarship

The Global Leadership Scholarship at the University of Glasgow supports international fee-paying students starting a postgraduate taught master's programme in any discipline. The award is a tuition-fee discount for one year, and each cycle the University offers 23 scholarships — three worth £10,000 and twenty worth £5,000. To be eligible, candidates must demonstrate academic excellence equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree and be enrolling in a one-year, full-time, in-person master's programme (a few programmes, such as Book and Paper Conservation MPhil and Textile programmes, are excepted, and diplomas and certificates are not eligible). The application requires a 500-word statement explaining why you chose this particular programme, how it will support your future academic or career goals, and how you would benefit from the scholarship. Awards are offered for both September and January intakes, each with its own deadline, so applicants should check the relevant intake page. Because it is a tuition discount rather than a full ride, recipients should plan for living costs and any remaining fees.

Eligibility

  • Be an international fee-paying student
  • Achieve the international equivalent of a UK first-class honours degree
  • Be starting a 1-year, full-time, in-person postgraduate taught master's (some exclusions)
  • Not be applying for a diploma or certificate programme
  • Submit the required 500-word statement by the intake deadline

Always verify amounts and deadlines on the official site; they change each cycle.
