About this scholarship
The University of Alberta International Leader Scholarship is an application-based undergraduate entrance scholarship for international students with strong academics and demonstrated leadership. The official international undergraduate scholarships page says this award recognizes well-rounded applicants with superior academics based on leadership roles and accomplishments in school, community organizations, extracurricular activities, or the workplace. Recipients may receive up to CAD $15,000. It is partial funding because the award does not cover the full cost of tuition, fees, residence, meals, books, health insurance, travel, or personal expenses. Unlike the admission-based awards, students must apply early for application-based scholarships. U of A instructs applicants to apply to an undergraduate degree program before applying for entrance scholarships, and the application-based scholarship deadline is January 10 for students starting in the referenced September intake. Students complete the single scholarship application so the university can assess their background, experiences, academics, interests, and leadership against available awards.
