Unity Lodge No. 3 Scholarship Awards Program
Offered by Unity Lodge No. 3, Independent Order of Odd Fellows
About this scholarship
Unity Lodge No. 3 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows awards twelve $1,000 scholarships to students in Southern Maine. Eight awards support graduating high-school or home-school seniors in the lodge’s local area. Two support local university students in technical fields, and two support local students taking online university courses or attending trade school; trade-school recipients may use funds for tools. Applicants need at least a 2.0 GPA and must plan to attend a two- or four-year college in Maine, an eligible online university, or a qualifying trade program according to the award category. The lodge prioritizes graduating seniors with non-school-sponsored community volunteer work and extracurricular involvement. The paper application asks for education plans, school and community activities, work experience, honors, financial information, a resume or activity sheet, transcript, and an essay about the Odd Fellows’ history and community work. A guidance counselor must sign in support of the application. The complete packet must be mailed to Unity Lodge No. 3 in South Portland and postmarked by June 1. Awards are announced in July, and checks are made payable to the college rather than the student. The Apply link opens the sponsor’s current fillable application and mailing instructions.
