The UMass Dartmouth International Freshmen Merit Scholarship is an automatic undergraduate award for international first-year applicants. UMass Dartmouth states that international freshmen are considered for merit scholarship funding based on the admission application and acceptance to the university, with published freshman awards ranging from $10,000 to $15,500 per academic year for students with a high school GPA of 2.75 or above. No separate scholarship application is described; students choose an application route on the international undergraduate application page and submit required academic records, English proficiency evidence, and financial documentation for visa purposes. The award is partial funding because it reduces the cost of study but does not cover the full cost of tuition, fees, housing, meals, health insurance, books, travel, or personal expenses. The scholarship can be deducted from the bank-statement amount required for I-20 review if admitted and awarded. Renewal requires full-time enrollment of 12 day credits each semester and a cumulative UMassD GPA of at least 3.0.

Eligibility

• Apply as an international first-year undergraduate applicant to UMass Dartmouth
• Have a high school GPA of 2.75 or above
• Submit the admission application and required academic records
• Meet UMass Dartmouth English proficiency requirements or qualify for an approved exemption
• Provide required financial documentation for I-20 review after admission
• Enroll full time to use and renew the scholarship
• Maintain a cumulative UMassD GPA of at least 3.0 for renewal
