The UBC Okanagan International Welcome Award is a first-year tuition award for international students who choose the Okanagan campus as their first-choice UBC degree option. UBC states that all international students who apply to UBC with a UBC Okanagan degree listed as their first choice and who are accepted and enroll in that first-choice program receive the award. The value is CAD $5,000, applied as a credit toward first-year full-time tuition on the Okanagan campus. Half of the award is applied to Term 1 tuition and half to Term 2 tuition, as long as the student meets the enrollment requirements. It is partial funding because it is a one-time tuition credit and does not cover full tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, health insurance, travel, or personal expenses. Students do not submit a separate scholarship application; the award appears in the applicant or student account after the student accepts the offer of admission and starts classes under the published conditions.
Eligibility
- Apply to UBC as an international undergraduate applicant
- List an eligible UBC Okanagan degree as the first-choice program
- Be accepted to the first-choice UBC Okanagan degree
- Enroll into that UBC Okanagan program
- Take a full-time Winter Session course load of 24 credits
- Accept the UBC offer of admission
- Use the award as a credit toward first-year tuition fees
