UAB International Scholarship

About this scholarship

The UAB International Scholarship is an automatic first-year undergraduate scholarship for international applicants to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. UAB lists the award at $7,500 per year and makes it available to applicants currently living outside the United States who are enrolling as first-year, full-time, degree-seeking students in an undergraduate program. The award is partial funding because it reduces cost but does not cover full tuition, fees, housing, meals, health insurance, books, travel, or personal expenses. Students are automatically considered upon admission when they meet the stated requirements, so the admission application is the practical application route. To qualify, students must graduate from a secondary or high school outside the United States, up to three years before intake, with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, have not enrolled in post-secondary work, and anticipate holding an F-1 visa. Scholarships are awarded first come, first served as funds are available and are renewable for four years or eight academic semesters. Students receiving governmental scholarships or other external support are not eligible for this award.

Eligibility

• Apply as a first-year international undergraduate applicant to UAB
• Currently live outside the United States
• Enroll as a full-time degree-seeking undergraduate student
• Graduate from a secondary or high school outside the United States up to three years before intake
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at admission
• Have not enrolled in post-secondary work
• Anticipate holding an F-1 visa
• Do not receive governmental scholarships or other external support
