Ty Cobb Educational Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship

Offered by Ty Cobb Educational Foundation

About this scholarship

The Ty Cobb Educational Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship helps capable Georgia residents with financial need complete full-time undergraduate study at an accredited college or university. The institution may be in Georgia or another state, but the student must be a U.S. citizen and a qualified Georgia resident. This is not a first-year scholarship: applicants must be high-school graduates and must have completed, or be on track to complete by the end of the current spring term, at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of eligible college credit. They also need a cumulative B average, which the foundation defines as at least a 3.0 GPA. Award amounts vary because the foundation evaluates each student’s financial circumstances and available aid. Most grants cover one academic year and are paid directly to the approved institution; roughly 200 Georgia students receive support in a typical year. Students with the strongest academic records and greatest financial need receive priority. The application requires a statement explaining the circumstances behind the funding request, a faculty or advisor recommendation, official transcripts including current fall grades, the applicable student or parent tax return, a completed FAFSA, and a financial-aid award letter. The online submission period runs from January 6 through March 6 each year. The official applicant page supplies the Submittable link when the annual window opens.
