Toronto Metropolitan University President's Entrance Scholarship

About this scholarship

The Toronto Metropolitan University President's Entrance Scholarship is one of TMU's prestigious entrance scholarships for secondary school graduates. TMU lists 12 recipients, with a total scholarship value of CAD $40,000 paid as CAD $10,000 annually and renewable. Recipients are also reserved a residence bed, although residence costs are not included in the scholarship value. The award is partial funding because CAD $10,000 per year does not cover full international tuition, fees, residence, meals, books, health insurance, travel, and personal expenses. The scholarship recognizes academic accomplishment, leadership qualities, original thought, and creative ability. International students are eligible alongside Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and protected persons. Applicants use TMU's AwardSpring system after receiving a TMU student number and activating their online identity, and applicants may apply before receiving an offer of admission. For the fall 2026 award cycle, the application was available from November 1, 2025 to the extended February 17, 2026 deadline, so the next cycle is recorded as TBA. The application requires evidence beyond grades, including creative/original work and leadership references.

Eligibility

• Apply for admission to an eligible TMU undergraduate program
• Be a secondary school graduate entering post-secondary study
• International students, Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and protected persons are eligible
• Have a minimum 90% final admission average or home-country equivalent
• Submit the AwardSpring application by the annual deadline
• Provide an essay or project summary showing original thought and creative ability
• Submit two reference letters, including one academic reference and one leadership or creative reference
• List leadership activities or positions from the final two years of secondary school
