Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation Hospitality Education Scholarship

Offered by Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation

About this scholarship

The Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation Hospitality Education Scholarship pays up to $2,000 in tuition for hospitality-related courses at an accredited U.S. postsecondary institution. It serves both students preparing to enter hospitality and working professionals seeking credentials for advancement. Eligible study can be in person or online and may include hotel operations and management, destination management, meeting and conference planning, wedding and special-event planning, exhibitions and conventions, catering, foodservice management, concierge work, or hospitality human resources. Applicants must be at least 18, hold a high school diploma or GED, and reside in the United States. A complete application includes the online essay response, academic transcripts or other proof of scholarly merit, a current resume, a professional headshot, and actual supporting evidence of achievements such as awards, licenses, recognitions, or certificates. A current or former manager, instructor, or peer must separately submit a recommendation on official letterhead with full contact information. The Foundation reviews complete applications quarterly, with deadlines on February 15, May 15, August 15, and November 15. Because the August date has passed, November 15, 2026 is the next verified deadline. Incomplete or late applications are held out of that quarter, but candidates may submit a new complete application in a later round.
