Thomas J. Seefred Trust Scholarship

Offered by Thomas J. Seefred Trust

About this scholarship

The Thomas J. Seefred Trust Scholarship awards up to $3,000 to Ohio residents ages 18 through 25 who have juvenile diabetes and are completing a standard bachelor’s-degree curriculum. Applicants must already be enrolled at an accredited junior college, college, or university; current high-school students are not eligible. Students from anywhere in Ohio may apply, with preference given to residents of Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties. Selection considers academic promise, financial need, the personal essay, and a recommendation. A first-time applicant submits three copies of the completed notarized application, an official dated college transcript that proves enrollment, a physician’s letter confirming diagnosis and treatment, a non-relative recommendation, current income-tax statements for the student and parents, and an essay of no more than 500 words explaining how juvenile diabetes has affected the applicant and why support is warranted. Previous recipients use a shorter renewal packet consisting of the form, transcript, and tax information. Applications must be postmarked by June 1 each year and mailed to the scholarship address printed on the official form; selected recipients are notified by July 15. The Apply link opens the sponsor’s application PDF directly, while the program page provides the current eligibility, award, mailing, and selection instructions.
