Thea Foundation Film Scholarship Competition
Offered by Thea Foundation
About this scholarship
The Thea Foundation Film Scholarship Competition offers three awards to Arkansas high-school seniors, with first place receiving $10,000. The current official rules describe a talent-based competition for original short films, judged for storytelling, creativity, and technical execution by filmmakers, educators, and industry professionals. GPA, test scores, and an intention to major in film or another art field are not required. The one-time scholarship may be used at an accredited postsecondary institution, and a participating Thea education partner may add matching support. The live 2027 registration form asks for a process essay of no more than 250 words explaining how the film was created and how its theme is reflected in the work, together with student, parent, teacher, school, intended-college, and intended-major information. The Foundation’s film instructions allow a film of up to 20 minutes and require a headshot. Applying is a two-part process: students complete the linked 2027 registration form and then submit the film and headshot through the upload link on the official category page. Current rules limit eligibility to Arkansas seniors graduating in Spring 2027. The registration and all uploaded materials must be received by January 10, 2027.
