Texas Tech University General Scholarships

Offered by Texas Tech University

About this scholarship

Texas Tech University uses its undergraduate admission application to consider incoming students for a broad pool of general scholarships based on academics, financial need, academic interests, leadership, and other donor or university criteria. No additional general scholarship application is required for this priority review. For fall 2027, incoming freshmen should submit their Texas Tech application by December 1, 2026, while transfer students have a January 1, 2027 priority scholarship deadline. The admission application is therefore the direct application route; students may use the Common App first-year or transfer option and should complete every scholarship-related question and requested document rather than waiting for a separate form. Awards and renewal conditions vary because “general scholarships” is an umbrella process covering university, college, and academic-interest funds rather than one fixed-dollar scholarship. Students seeking need-based consideration should also complete the FAFSA, or TASFA if they are an eligible Texas resident who cannot submit FAFSA, and follow all financial-aid document requests. The priority scholarship deadlines are earlier than Texas Tech’s general summer and fall 2027 admission priority date of May 1, so students who want maximum scholarship consideration should use the earlier scholarship date. Any offer should be reviewed for its specific amount, enrollment conditions, GPA standard, and renewal requirements.
