Texas A&M National Merit Scholarships
Offered by Texas A&M University and National Merit Scholarship Corporation
About this scholarship
Texas A&M guarantees a substantial scholarship package to eligible National Merit Semifinalists and Finalists admitted as fall freshmen to the College Station campus. Semifinalists receive a $3,000 President’s Endowed Scholarship for four years plus a one-time $1,000 study-abroad stipend, a guaranteed total of $13,000. Finalists receive those benefits plus a $7,000 annual National Merit Recognition Scholarship and a $500 annual National Merit Sponsorship, bringing the four-year guaranteed package to $43,000. Finalists who need a fifth undergraduate year after exhausting the Recognition Scholarship may also qualify for a $3,000 supplemental award. Applicants begin by filing the regular Texas A&M freshman application. National Merit Finalists must separately designate Texas A&M University as their first-choice institution in the National Merit Scholarship Corporation portal to receive the Recognition Scholarship. Semifinalists and Finalists are also considered for other freshman opportunities offered by the university, and those additional awards may be added to the guaranteed package. Students with multiple national designations receive the scholarship offer leading to the highest-value package. The President’s Endowed and National Merit Recognition awards can also count toward the university’s competitive-scholarship nonresident tuition waiver when the annual threshold is met.
