Tennessee Trucking Foundation Tommy Hodges Scholarship

Offered by Tennessee Trucking Foundation

About this scholarship

The Tennessee Trucking Foundation Tommy Hodges Scholarship will award eleven college students $2,500 for Spring 2027. A recipient who is an employee, dependent child, or spouse of an employee of a Tennessee Trucking Association member company in good standing receives an additional $500, for a $3,000 total award. Applicants must be at least 18 and enrolled or planning to enroll as a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior at a two- or four-year higher-education institution in Tennessee for the spring term. The application is national in residence eligibility, but the school itself must be in Tennessee. Students provide contact, background, and academic information and write an original English-language essay of no more than 500 words explaining their interest in trucking, their knowledge of the industry, and how it relates to their future. AI-generated essays are disqualified. Judges weight writing, creativity, originality, GPA, and overall excellence equally, and expect to select recipients around December 15. Winners must provide proof of Spring 2027 enrollment, a W-9, and required releases by February 1, 2027. Funds are sent to the institution by ACH. The direct application is open through November 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.
