Taiwan Scholarship (MOE)
Offered by Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan)
About this scholarship
The Taiwan Scholarship, funded by Taiwan's Ministry of Education (MOE), supports international students to pursue undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees at universities in Taiwan. It pays tuition and miscellaneous fees of up to NT$40,000 per semester (the student covers any excess) plus a monthly living allowance of NT$15,000 for undergraduates and NT$20,000 for master's and doctoral students. A scholarship may be held for up to four years for a bachelor's, two years for a master's, and four years for a doctorate, subject to a five-year cumulative cap. Applicants must be foreign nationals with at least a secondary-school diploma, an excellent academic record, and good character; ROC nationals, overseas Chinese students, and those already enrolled in (or who have previously held a Taiwan Scholarship for five years at) a Taiwanese institution are not eligible. Crucially, applicants apply in two places: to a Republic of China (Taiwan) overseas mission (TECO) for the scholarship, and separately to a Taiwanese university or college for admission, by each one's deadline.
Eligibility
- Be a foreign national with at least a secondary-school graduation diploma
- Have an excellent academic record and good character
- Not be an ROC national or overseas Chinese student
- Not already be enrolled at, or registered to begin at, a Taiwanese institution
