The SUNY New Paltz #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship is a renewable tuition scholarship for promising international first-year undergraduates with a vision for intercultural understanding. New Paltz states that it selects two first-year undergraduate international students for fall semesters to receive an annual renewable scholarship covering 50 percent of tuition. Eligible applicants must be first-year international applicants of any major, meaning citizens of a country outside the United States who do not also hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. They must meet SUNY New Paltz admission criteria and deadlines, satisfy the university's English proficiency requirement, demonstrate resources for expenses not covered by the scholarship, and show interest and initiative in promoting intercultural learning and exchange. The scholarship requires a 500- to 1,000-word essay about leadership in school or community and how the student will continue applying leadership at SUNY New Paltz. Accepted students upload the essay through the application portal under the International tab.
