About this scholarship

The SUNY Cortland Wah Chip and Yuki Chin Scholarship supports international student and scholar exchange between SUNY Cortland and Asian countries. The scholarship was established by Wah Chip Chin in 1998 in memory of his wife, Yuki Chip. SUNY Cortland states that awards range from $500 to $2,000 for the semester and that a student can apply every semester, depending on funding. The award is partial funding because it is a semester scholarship and does not cover full tuition, fees, housing, meals, health insurance, books, travel, or personal expenses. Applicants need a 2.7 GPA, a completed application, and a two-page double-spaced essay answering the application questions. Published deadlines are June 15 for the fall semester and January 10 for the spring semester. Preference in awarding is given to incoming first-year and transfer international students from Asia, returning international students from Asia, and exchange or visiting students from Asia who do not qualify for an exchange award. The application link is embedded on the official Cortland scholarship page.
