State Fair of West Virginia Scholarship Program
Offered by State Fair of West Virginia and Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation
About this scholarship
The State Fair of West Virginia Scholarship Program recognizes students whose recent participation helped sustain the fair's livestock, equine, 4-H, or FFA traditions. In partnership with corporate, civic, and individual contributors and the State Fair Endowment, the program offers five scholarships worth up to $1,000 per year for as many as four years, a maximum value of $4,000 per recipient. Applicants may pursue a vocational trade credential, an associate degree, or a bachelor's degree. The central eligibility requirement is participation within the previous five years in at least one qualifying State Fair area: the Junior Show for market, purebred, or dairy animals; the Open Horse Show or Junior Horse and Pony Show; or the 4-H and FFA Youth Exhibit Program at the Underwood Youth Center. Students apply through the Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation Scholarship Manager, whose universal application also matches candidates with other regional awards. The portal requires an account and supports the application, reference requests, and document uploads. Foundation instructions identify October 1 through March 15 as the annual submission window and advise applicants to complete all references and upload required records such as the seventh-semester transcript and any requested financial-aid information before midnight on the deadline.
