SSVMS Medical Student Scholarship Fund
Offered by Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society
About this scholarship
The Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society Medical Student Scholarship Fund provides need- and merit-informed assistance to full-time medical students with roots in the Sacramento region. Applicants must have graduated from a high school in El Dorado, Sacramento, or Yolo County, California, but the official rules do not require them to attend medical school in those counties. They must currently be enrolled for at least 12 units in an accredited American medical school. Summer-only enrollment and correspondence programs are not eligible. SSVMS accepts applications every year by July 1 and announces awards in September. The Society does not publish one guaranteed award amount or number of recipients; it explains that limited funds mean not every eligible applicant will receive support. Reviewers primarily consider demonstrated financial need and academic achievement, analyzing financial information in relation to the applicant’s household resources and size. Candidates download the official PDF application from the SSVMS program page and prepare a complete mailed packet. That packet must include the signed application, official high-school and college transcripts, and three letters of reference. References and transcripts may arrive separately, but every component must be received by the July 1 deadline, so applicants should request third-party materials well in advance. The packet is mailed to the Scholarship & Awards Committee at the SSVMS address printed on the official page; incomplete applications are not considered.
