SIUE Geographic Enhancement Opportunity Award

The SIUE Geographic Enhancement Opportunity Award, usually called the GEO Award, is a special tuition-rate award for academically qualified international students at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. SIUE states that the undergraduate GEO Award is valued at $10,676 per year for the 2026-2027 academic year, based on 12 credit hours per semester, and that the actual amount may vary with course enrollment. The award can generate more than $47,000 in savings over a four-year undergraduate program. It is partial funding because it reduces tuition but does not cover the full cost of tuition and fees, housing, meals, health insurance, books, travel, and personal expenses. The admission application serves as the GEO Award application; academically qualified international freshmen and transfers are eligible. Undergraduate freshman criteria include first-time, full-time international status, academic qualification based on secondary school transcripts, and at least TOEFL 79, IELTS 6.5, or equivalent English proficiency. Transfer and graduate criteria are based on the college or university undergraduate transcript and full admission. Undergraduate recipients may hold the award for up to eight semesters and must remain in good academic standing.

Eligibility
