About this scholarship
The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a fully funded PhD scholarship offered through a collaboration between Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the country's leading universities — the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). It supports international students to pursue PhD research in science and engineering fields, including biomedical sciences, physical sciences and engineering, and computing. SINGA scholars receive full sponsorship of tuition fees and a competitive monthly living stipend, along with support such as a settling-in allowance and an airfare grant; the exact current amounts are published on the official SINGA page. Applications are made through the A*STAR Scholarship Applicant Portal, which handles all A*STAR scholarships and awards, and there are typically two intakes each year (January and August). The award is open to graduates of any nationality with a strong academic record in a relevant field and good English proficiency, who are passionate about a research career.
Eligibility
- Be an international graduate (open to all nationalities)
- Hold a strong bachelor's (and/or master's) degree in a relevant science or engineering field
- Demonstrate good English proficiency
- Be pursuing a full-time PhD at a participating Singapore university
