Sheltair & Avfuel Future Takes Flight Learning to Fly Scholarship
Offered by Sheltair Aviation and Avfuel Corporation
About this scholarship
The Sheltair and Avfuel Future Takes Flight Learning to Fly or Advanced Pilot Ratings category offers two $5,000 awards in 2026. The funding can pay for coursework or flight lessons leading to a private pilot certificate, multi-engine or commercial rating, airline transport pilot certificate, bachelor's degree, Certified Aviation Manager credential, or upset-recovery training. Applicants must demonstrate interest in aviation education and complete the dedicated form for this track. The form asks for current or planned certification and flight-school information where applicable, an optional Airman's Certificate and résumé, recent work experience, a funding plan, and two essay responses capped at 1,000 characters each. Essays cover the applicant's aviation career plans, proposed use of the award, and an aviation challenge the applicant would improve. Sheltair and Avfuel select recipients from the essays, with special consideration for financial hardship. Employees of either company and their relatives cannot apply. Payment is made jointly to the recipient and the chosen educational institution, must advance aviation education, and must be redeemed within one year of the award notice. Applicants must complete the form in one session and submit it by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on August 31, 2026.
