About this scholarship
Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective, fully funded one-year Master of Global Affairs program based at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University in Beijing, designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders to understand China's role in a fast-changing world. The scholarship covers tuition and fees, room and board, travel to and from Beijing at the start and end of the year, course books and supplies, a personal laptop and smartphone, a monthly stipend, and an in-country study trip. Up to roughly 200 scholars are selected each year from a global applicant pool, drawn from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds. The program is taught in English and combines core courses in global affairs with leadership training, mentorship, high-profile speakers, and deep cultural immersion. Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree before enrolment and be between 18 and 28 years old (not yet 29 by August 1 of the enrolment year). There are separate application rounds: a U.S./Global round and a China round, each with its own deadline. Selection looks for leadership, intellect, and the potential to bridge cultural and political divides.
