San Francisco Conservatory of Music Scholarships

Offered by San Francisco Conservatory of Music

About this scholarship

San Francisco Conservatory of Music scholarships provide institutional aid to admitted musicians in undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, and artist-diploma programs. SFCM reports that 99 percent of students receive scholarship assistance. Its most competitive Founders Scholarships range from $20,000 to full tuition, while other institutional awards vary according to artistic merit, academic record, financial information, program needs, and available funds. Applicants do not submit a separate general scholarship form. They create an account in SFCM’s official application portal, complete the admission application for their program, and satisfy the prescreening, portfolio, interview, or live-audition requirements assigned to their instrument or area. U.S. citizens and permanent residents seeking need-based consideration file the FAFSA; international applicants use the CSS Profile when financial information is requested. SFCM states that late fall 2026 applications may still be considered if the program has space and scholarship funding, so applicants should confirm availability with Admissions before paying an application fee. Institutional scholarships normally renew when a recipient remains enrolled full time, maintains satisfactory academic progress and at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA as an undergraduate or 3.0 as a graduate or postgraduate student, and fulfills required large-ensemble, chamber-music, and other program assignments. Award values may remain fixed even if tuition rises, and students should review the official offer for program-specific renewal terms, outside-aid coordination, and enrollment obligations.
