San Diego AEP Expanding the Environmental Profession Scholarship
Offered by Association of Environmental Professionals, San Diego Chapter
About this scholarship
The San Diego AEP Expanding the Environmental Profession Scholarship awards up to $1,000 to local high school juniors and seniors who want a college education leading to an environmental career. Applicants must attend high school in San Diego County or Imperial County, be a junior or senior in October 2026, and have at least a 3.0 GPA. The award specifically expands access for students who come from a low-income household or will be first-generation college students, meaning neither parent received a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. The official information sheet supplies county-specific low-income thresholds and notes that the qualifying attribute is not subject to verification. Funds can support college preparation, tuition, books, research, and related educational pursuits; selected students receive checks in their own names. The Google application requires a current transcript and an essay no longer than two double-spaced pages, using at least 10-point type and one-inch margins. Applicants describe their environmental career goals, the life experiences that led to those goals, and how the scholarship would help with their education. Winners are notified in September and invited with one guest to the chapter’s October 2026 awards event. The complete form, transcript, and essay must be submitted by September 4, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
