Samuel Huntington Public Service Award
Offered by Samuel Huntington Fund
About this scholarship
The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award provides $30,000 to a graduating senior from an accredited U.S. college or university to carry out a self-designed public service project for one year. The project may take place in the United States or abroad and can be pursued independently or through a charitable, religious, educational, governmental, or other public-service organization. The program welcomes any activity that furthers the public good, with sustainable projects viewed favorably. This is a post-graduation project stipend, not tuition assistance. For the 2027 competition, eligible applicants are students graduating in summer or fall 2026 or spring 2027; citizenship is not restricted, but the qualifying degree must come from an accredited U.S. institution. The $30,000 is paid in two installments: $15,000 at the project’s start and $15,000 after receipt of a six-month progress report. The online application requires a detailed public-service proposal, project budget, college transcript, résumé, and three recommendations. Applicants should also explain any partner organization, proposed location, schedule, and other project support. Complete materials are due February 9, 2027 through the official SlideRoom portal. Finalists are chosen on proposal quality, academic record, and personal achievement, then interviewed in March or April; the award decision is expected by April.
