Robert Felix Memorial Scholarship

Offered by TREE Fund

About this scholarship

The Robert Felix Memorial Scholarship is TREE Fund’s longest-running endowed scholarship and supports students committed to professional careers in commercial arboriculture. Each selected recipient receives $5,000 for tuition, divided into a fall payment and a spring payment that depends on re-enrollment and continued GPA compliance. Funds go directly to the educational institution, may not exceed anticipated tuition for the award year, and cannot be renewed or received more than once. The program serves students in undergraduate or technical-college pathways who are far enough into their studies to demonstrate a sustained commitment: applicants must be entering the second year of a two-year program or the third or fourth year of a four-year program. They also need at least a 3.0 GPA and current student membership in the International Society of Arboriculture. The application portal collects enrollment and academic standing, scholarship and extracurricular history, a current transcript, proof of ISA membership, a career essay of no more than 1,000 words, and two recommendations, one of which must come from an academic advisor. TREE Fund’s Education Committee scores GPA, the essay, both references, and the applicant’s likelihood of continuing in arboriculture, urban forestry, or a related green industry. The annual application window runs from January 15 through March 15.
