About this scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship, established in 1903 and based at Rhodes House, University of Oxford, is the world's oldest and one of the most prestigious international postgraduate awards. It fully funds study toward an Oxford degree and covers all university and college fees, a personal annual stipend of £20,400 (£1,700 per month, at the 2025–26 rate), application and visa fees, the UK Immigration Health Surcharge, two economy flights to and from the UK, and a settling-in allowance. Funding generally runs for two years and may extend to a third year for DPhil (PhD) candidates. About 100 Scholars are selected each year from roughly 20 eligible constituencies (countries or groups of countries), each with its own age limits, academic criteria, and deadlines. Selection looks beyond academic excellence to character, leadership, commitment to service, and the energy to use one's talents to the full. Applicants apply through the constituency for which they are eligible, not directly to Oxford.

Eligibility

  • Be a citizen or resident of an eligible Rhodes constituency
  • Meet your constituency's age limits (commonly around 18–24)
  • Hold (or be completing) a strong undergraduate degree to your constituency's standard
  • Apply through the correct constituency, not directly to Oxford
  • Demonstrate leadership, service, and strength of character

Always verify amounts and deadlines on the official site; they change each cycle.
