About this scholarship

The Reach Oxford Scholarship (formerly the Oxford Student Scholarship) is offered to undergraduate students from low-income countries who — for political or financial reasons, or because suitable educational facilities do not exist — cannot study for a degree in their own countries. It is one of the few genuinely comprehensive undergraduate awards at the University of Oxford for students in this situation, providing full remission of University and College fees plus grants toward living and travel expenses. Because UK government student loans are not available to these students, the scholarship is designed to make an Oxford undergraduate degree possible where it otherwise would not be. The process is sequenced with admission: you must first apply to Oxford and hold an offer for deferred entry to an undergraduate course, and then apply for the Reach Oxford Scholarship in January of the year you will start (for example, in January 2026 for an October 2026 start). Applications for the scholarship can only be considered once. Selection considers both academic excellence and the financial and circumstantial need that the scholarship is intended to address.

Eligibility

  • Be from a low-income country and unable to study for a degree at home (political/financial reasons or lack of facilities)
  • Hold an offer for deferred entry to an Oxford undergraduate course
  • Apply for the scholarship in January of the year you will start
  • Demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need
  • Note the scholarship can only be applied for once
