R. Gene Richter Scholarship
Offered by R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation and Institute for Supply Management
About this scholarship
The R. Gene Richter Scholarship is a national senior-year award for students preparing for careers in supply management, procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management. The R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation operates the program with the Institute for Supply Management. The current official requirements are written for students who will be seniors during the 2027–28 academic year and graduate in December 2027 or spring 2028. Spring graduates receive $15,000 in tuition assistance, while December graduates receive $7,500. The program also pairs each scholar with an executive mentor and a junior mentor who previously received the award, creating access to industry guidance and professional networks beyond the financial benefit. Applicants submit the official online form, a résumé, unofficial transcripts from every college attended, two recommendation letters, and three essays addressing collaborative leadership, an ethical dilemma, and the decision to pursue supply chain management. Candidates must study full-time in an accredited supply chain curriculum and be U.S. or Canadian citizens or valid green-card holders. Scholars must also be available for the Institute for Supply Management annual conference and gala and agree to use the award only for educational expenses, including eligible living costs. The sponsor has activated the current application route but has not posted an exact closing date, so applicants should submit promptly and verify timing in the portal.
