Posse Scholarship
Offered by The Posse Foundation and partner colleges and universities
About this scholarship
The Posse Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition leadership award at one of The Posse Foundation’s partner colleges and universities. Scholars enter college in small cohorts and receive pre-collegiate training, weekly faculty mentoring, career support, and a peer network in addition to tuition. The award does not automatically cover room, board, or every college fee, so it is classified as partial funding under this site’s coverage rules. Recent national cohorts have included about 900 scholars; a published Class of 2028 cohort included 906 students receiving $187 million in four-year tuition awards. Candidates do not begin with a conventional open application. A registered high school or community-based organization nominates the student, normally during the spring or summer before senior year, after which nominees complete Posse’s Dynamic Assessment Process. Students must be in the first term of senior year, show leadership in school, community, or family, and demonstrate academic potential. Deadlines and eligible partner institutions differ by recruitment city, so students and nominators must use the local Posse office’s current schedule. The scholarship is open to all backgrounds and is neither restricted to minority students nor awarded solely on financial need.
