Portland State University International Achievement Scholarship

About this scholarship

Portland State University's International Achievement Scholarship is awarded to new incoming international undergraduate students on the basis of academic achievement. PSU states that all admitted undergraduate international students are automatically considered for merit scholarships of up to $10,000 per year, and the International Achievement Scholarship itself is listed at $3,000 to $10,000 per academic year annually. No separate scholarship application is required for this award. It may be offered for up to twelve terms for first-year students and up to six terms for transfer students, beginning with the term of initial enrollment, and is distributed over fall, winter, and spring terms rather than summer. The award applies only toward tuition charges for academic classes, and recipients must enroll in at least 12 academic credits at PSU each quarter to receive it. Eligible students typically have an entering equivalent GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, must be classified as non-resident for tuition purposes, and must be new admission applicants. Students sponsored by state entities or outside organizations, and some partnership students, may be ineligible. The scholarship is partial funding because it does not cover full tuition or living costs.

Eligibility

• Apply as a new incoming international undergraduate student to Portland State University
• Typically have an entering equivalent GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
• Be classified as non-resident for tuition purposes
• No separate application is required for the International Achievement Scholarship
• Enroll in at least 12 academic credits each quarter to receive the award
• Not be an already enrolled PSU student requesting a new or increased admission award
• Not be in a sponsorship or excluded partnership category that makes the student ineligible
